Who are we? The Digital Strategy Hub
Alex Villamar
My journey into Marketing has been unique, to me at least. I am Alex Villamar, the driving force behind The Digital Strategy Hub and Two Marketing Nerds Blog.
My journey into Marketing?
My journey into Marketing was sparked during my service in the US ARMY, where I developed a deep passion for understanding people and culture.
This led me to supplement my marketing knowledge with behavior and Anthropology studies in college, as I sought to comprehend the societal dynamics as an American born in the political and social nerve center of the country but raised in Nicaragua during the end of an infamous military communist dictatorship and the birth of a feeble desire for democracy and the corruption that followed.
My desire to learn Marketing
My desire to learn and understand how communication and the logical process of thought work led me to debate and add Communication Studies and persuasion to my qualifications. Later, my career took me back to school to focus on Digital Marketing and Integrated Marketing Communications.
My career is guided by a deep-rooted desire to understand how entities like the US ARMY can create an indelible impression in the psyche of a group of people, regardless of the length of service. This curiosity led me to delve into culture and group behavior, a skill that has proven invaluable in my career and instilled confidence in my expertise.
My Professional Journey into Marketing
My professional career has been marked by significant roles across various industries, languages, start-ups, and high-profile organizations. Early in my career, I worked for a small ad agency in Kansas City, which gave me the first azimuth in my marketing journey.
Later, I went overseas to develop products for the largest remittance company in CAM, lead the marketing efforts of an Eastern European company entering the CAM market, and create my own business, combining my passions for fitness and technology in South America.
A desire to thrive
My desire to thrive in this marketing journey took me to Texas, where I learned to design and apply marketing strategies and tactics based on the fluidity of culture. This experience also taught me to find a target group’s common thread and needs quickly.
Once I settled back in the capital and then Maryland, I continued to learn and work in various industries, such as NGO, Advocacy, Pharmaceutical, Broadcast, retail food service, and SAAS.
Knowledge and experience in designing indexes
Recently, my wife and I designed an index to measure the level of trust different groups place on the claim a message (Ad) makes varies. We created an index to measure this confidence level through a simple algorithm.
This journey into Marketing brought us to the Northeast USA. After a 16-year marketing career, I established myself in Maryland. I wanted an outlet to write about my knowledge, the new knowledge I acquired, and my everyday experiences in the ever-changing marketing world.
